Iran as an old civilized country has a wealth of art that has been aged seven thousand years. Old culture has become the main identity of the Iranian people and be a good opportunity to promote the diverse arts and culture in this country.
Since the last three decades, Iran continues to promote this sector and by relying on the richness of Islamic culture has, Iran managed to achieve significant improvement in the sector of handicraft industry. And it was recognized by the international community.
However, the rise of craft in the world market also has a variety of constraints. Among the serious obstacles that threaten the sector is the falsification of a product made by another country. This encourages the holding of an effort to prevent the spread of counterfeiting products of handicraft. Among those efforts is patenting a variety of handicrafts various countries by an international institution. These institutions have been least able to address concerns handicraft industry manufacturers.
Therefore, in 2001 established a patent issued by UNESCO to protect the rights of producers of handicraft industry. In 2007 Iran joined the institute. It is clear that not all crafts have eligibility to receive a patent from UNESCO. That's why the agency determines the number of criteria in this regard. Among these are a handicraft have to maintain cultural values, full of creativity, and capable of creating jobs.
October last year a patent related to the UNESCO conference held in Isfahan, Iran and attended by various judges and experts from the Netherlands, Denmark, Malaysia, Thailand and France into an opportunity for Iran to display their products. The meeting also become an arena for Tehran to compete with other countries. Iranian artist himself until now has repeatedly managed to get a patent award and UNESCO.
